until I get a day off. Fuck Salary, I could be *RICH* off this overtime...
I have a sneaking suspicion the hourly guys in production are making more than me this Holiday season, their hourly average is certainly higher.
Better get a good bonus.

I love the concept of salary. Got all your work done? Go the hell home! Problem is the work is never all done and employers don’t trust people not to abuse the privilege of leaving early so you end up being what I call a sourly employee.

Unless your salary is higher than some amount specified by the state, you still get overtime. Might be something to look into.

But it is better for employees to be salary. It would hurt you to be hourly! HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

Take advantage of laws to pay people less and make them work more to make more profits!
I don’t even need to get one of them fancy papers from that schoolin place in the town over!

This just in, you have to work Christmas day too.
Seriously, being salaried sucks. Hourly is the way to go, no doubt. Well, back that up. If you don’t work for a bunch of jackasses salary is cool. But, aren’t almost all higher ups always jackasses?

Sadly, Yes. :| the bennefits here are excellent (full-employer-paid health, 3wks Paid vacay after four years (I’ll qualify next fiscal)) but you have to put up with this shit... and frankly my brain is fried, my blood-pressure is high, my diet and excercise suck and I’m too tired to even enjoy fancy beer.

I figured it out a little while ago that if I only worked the hours in a year I got paid for (I’m salaried so figure 40/wk) I’d have been done for the year some time early in the week of thanksgiving. Instead, I get nothing but to keep my job by continuing to show up and working another 200+ hours in December.

7:00am “Get this work done today”
2:00pm “Okay I’m done bye--”
“Okay here’s another 4 hours of work to do then since you’re done”

That number is pretty low right now. It was supposed to be raised to $47k this year, but a federal judge ordered a stop to it. So it’s still too low to affect many full-time salaried positions.
